Democratic National Committee Website Redesign
A site that puts people at the center of the Party.

The challenge: The Democratic National Committee’s mobilization team approached Blue State, wanting to update and improve Democrats.org ahead of the 2020 election. After running a site-intercept survey on the Democratic National Committee’s previous site, the most common feedback we heard from users was a sense of confusion. There was a lot of old, residual content, and after four years of adjustment-on-demand, very little about the navigation of the site made sense.
The process: Our redesign efforts were driven by one goal: making the site intuitive and easy to use for the people who matter most to the Party’s success — Democratic volunteers and donors all across the country. We worked within the DNC’s brand to develop a style that was honest, inclusive, and approachable.
The solution: The new Democrats.org was set up to serve as a foundation for all the Party’s work leading up to the 2020 election and beyond. Using a modular design, it’s equipped to grow and evolve for whatever comes in the future.
The result: This site puts people at the center of the Party. The pages of the new Democrats.org are filled with images of volunteers and organizers and supporters whose commitment determined the Democratic Party’s success in 2020. Their story is at the heart of this redesign, and with a new hub for volunteers to find organizing opportunities, it is optimized for action.
